The Ugly Truth About DONALD HIPP
Jasper County Sheriff A Job Only For Those With Integrity
Buddha once said,
“Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.” Honesty
is extremely important if not the most essential character trait that a person
who wishes to hold a leadership position in our community should possess. Honesty
produces trust, and trust is priceless.
One of this year’s
candidates for the Jasper County Sheriff election is now in the hot seat. Read
on as we study the evidence and find out if there is any truth to the stones
thrown at Deputy Donald Hipp.
Donald Hipp Allowed Gross Negligence in His Position
The Allegation
Donald Hipp, along
with his subordinates, is allegedly mishandling evidence, which is why the
Jasper County Police Department has a lot of open cases. Needless to say, this
gross negligence greatly impacts the lives of both the victim and the accused.
The Facts
Hipp was head of
the Criminal Investigations Division. He was in charge of supervising the
people in his team and was responsible for every evidence collected. He alone
holds the key that can access the evidence lockers.
The incoming
sheriff at that time found the evidence in complete disarray. There was
absolutely no system for handling, labeling, and tracking any of the evidence.
Hundreds of items of evidence were not stored properly. Some were left
unsecured in offices, while others were found in a box in a corner.
Likewise, there
wasn't any information as to where the evidence came from and how it came to be
in the possession of Hipp’s division. Hundreds of drugs and guns were found in
the evidence locker, which had no tags.
Worse, there were
evidence bags that were supposed to contain money, but the money was missing,
and there was no way of tracking it at all.
The Resolution
The new sheriff
took action right away. He gathered all the scattered pieces of evidence and
made sure they were labeled and documented. He returned several hundred guns to
their rightful owners. In addition, he took all the guns they were able to
seize and traded them in for new equipment for the deputies at no cost to the
taxpayers of Jasper County.
Jasper County Sheriff 2020
This year, an
election will be held for Jasper County Sheriff 2020. The power to put someone
in a very esteemed and influential position is in your hands, citizens of
Jasper County.
Choose wisely! Make
sure you vote for someone who has the necessary skills to lead the entire
police department. This person should know how to manage all of the various
divisions, identify the strengths and work on the weaknesses of his department,
maximize the potentials of his subordinates, and have a clear vision so as to inspire
his people to achieve high productivity.
More importantly,
vote for someone who has a proven track record of integrity. You need someone
who will rise up against corruption, greed, and abuse of power. You need
someone who is able to hold the people around him accountable. You need someone
who is truly committed to serving the citizens and does not have a personal
agenda. Remember, skill is learned, but the character is innate.
